Description: Basic Veterans' Benefits is NVTI's first entirely online course. This self-paced course consists of general information about VA benefits, such as education programs, disability compensation, VA pension and health care services. This course is not intended to make the service provider an “expert” in VA Benefits, but to give a basic working knowledge about certain VA programs. The course includes reading assignments, quizzes, research assignments, online discussion boards and a final evaluation.
Course Competencies: After completing the course, participants will: 1) be aware of the basic VA benefits necessary to assist the targeted groups, 2) know where to refer veterans for services they need or desire, and 3) have established a network of contacts in federal, state and local veteran service organizations.
